Imagine sitting beside a fireplace, feeling the warmth of burning wood and the comforting aroma of smoke lingering in the air. This is the inspiration behind our Evening Ritual and our founder's favourite tea.Despite being a black tea, Lapsang Souchong has earned its place in this ceremony through its deeply contemplative character and unmistakable warmth.
What makes this tea particularly fascinating is its legendary origin story. Its creation is generally traced back to the mid-17th century during the late Ming or early Qing Dynasty in China. According to legend, soldiers occupied a tea-producing village during the harvest season, forcing local tea makers to abandon their freshly picked leaves. By the time they returned, the leaves had oxidized far beyond what was customary for green tea.
Determined not to waste the harvest, the tea makers sought a way to preserve the leaves and accelerate the drying process. They dried the tea over pinewood fires, giving birth to a tea unlike any other. This accidental innovation created the rich smoky character for which Lapsang Souchong is still celebrated today.

All orders are prepared and dispatched from Riga, Latvia.

Please allow approximately 2 business days for order preparation and packaging. During collection launches, holidays, or periods of increased demand, processing times may be slightly extended.
